202 Riverbend Road (Off of Highway 36, just before the bridge when driving from Thomaston)
An out-of-the-way restaurant well known for its fried catfish and slaw, Riverbend was founded in 1972. It is named after the bend in the Flint which is viewable from the deck. Although made famous for their fried catfish, they also serve good hamburgers, broiled fish, and more. Riverbend has been a favorite of Thomaston residents for over 40 years.

The menu, which has hardly changed since its inception, also includes slaw dogs, milkshakes, and the legendary BBQ deluxe, a wood-smoked pulled pork sandwich with an order of their homemade fries. Piggie Park remains a favorite of Thomaston natives for their great food and friendly service.

La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant
1118 Highway 19 North, Thomaston GA 30286
LaFiesta provides consistently good typical Mexican restaurant fare. The food is served quickly and accurately, and is reasonably priced. Every table comes with an endless supply of tortilla chips and salsa. Try the Fajita Burrito or the Taco Salad for something unique. Overall it is a nice place to eat when in town. It is a spacious restaurant which can accommodate large groups with little to no wait.
Alternatively you can try Thomaston’s other Mexican restaurant, U.S. Bar and Grill (1082 U.S. 19, 706-646-5358), for a similar experience

The Fish Peddler
1702 Highway 19 North, Thomaston GA 30286
A little fish restaurant that will make you feel like you’re on the Gulf Coast, the Fish Peddler may look like a dump, but it’s the best place in the area to get fresh steamed, baked, and boiled seafood. Their fish is shipped fresh up from the Gulf every week to be served with cheese grits and ‘Oyster Rockafella’ in an atmosphere like just like a beachfront grill in Panama City.
Only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night
99 Jeff Davis Road, Thomaston GA 30286
This Southern-style all-you-can-eat buffet offers a variety of dishes from day to day, ranging from Seafood Friday to the ever-popular Sunday Dinner, when the line goes out the door (but it’s worth the wait). The food is good home-cooked traditional southern fare, including classics such as dressing and black-eyed peas and house specialties such as their famous cheese biscuits. The ever-friendly staff is always there, ready with refills of tea and specialty items such as fried green tomatoes or slices of pie fresh from the oven.

English’s Cafe, formerly English’s Pool Room, is a cafe professing itself as the originator of the Scrambled Hamburger (Non-residents of Thomaston might confuse this dish with the Sloppy Joe). Aside from their messy hamburgers they also serve good Brunswick Stew, various hot dogs, chili, and sandwiches. Though the pool tables were removed years ago, the classic pool room atmosphere still remains.
The Country Cupboard
500 North Center Street, Thomaston GA 30286
The Country Cupboard is a nice little sandwich shop with an ever-friendly staff. They offer fresh and wholesome meals that are a nice alternative to fast food, including homemade soups, salads and sandwiches made with fresh bread, meats, and cheeses. The Country Cupboard has a store of pantry items such as jellies, spices, soup mixes, relish, and more. For your sweet tooth, they also offer candies, homemade cakes, and dipped ice cream.

A spacious pizza restaurant with a sports-themed atmosphere, American Pie is a popular local gathering spot. In addition to pizza, they also offer calzones, subs, wraps, salads, and their famous butter balls. (My personal favorite “pie” is the Hawaiian.) They have an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet Monday through Friday at lunchtime and also on Monday night. Tuesday is trivia night. A large private party room is available to reserve.
